After the ongoing census in the country, the political math will change with the new delimitation of Lok Sabha and Assembly seats, in which the Gujarat Assembly will increase from the current total of 182 seats to 210, that is, 28 seats will increase, in which also 33% seats will be reserved for women after the passage of the Women's Reservation Act, the process of new delimitation may be completed in 2028, as a result, the 2027 assembly elections will be held on the basis of 182 seats only. In Gujarat, 182 assembly seats were last decided in 1975, after that delimitation was done in 2008 based on the 2001 census in which the assembly seats were changed, but the number remained 182. Now, in the new delimitation after the 2025 census, the assembly seat may increase from 182 to 210. That means after 27 years there will be an increase in assembly seats in Gujarat. Along with the new delimitation, as the government has also made preparations to pass the law regarding 33% women reservation in the Lok Sabha and the Legislative Assembly, the new delimitation will also announce the reserved seats for women, currently there are 13 women MLAs out of 182 seats in Gujarat.
