European Union takes tough action against Google for breaching Digital Markets Act

The European Union has taken strict action against the technology giant Google for violating the Digital Market Act. Which is said to be the biggest and drastic step so far. The European Commission has fined Google 890 million euros, i.e. one billion dollars, i.e. more than 8300 crores, for violating the rules of the Digital Market Act. Google has been accused of harming the business of other competitors by unfairly prioritizing shopping, travel and hotel services in search results. The Commission set fines of 570 million euros for Google's biased search policies and 430 million euros for unreasonable restrictions on the Google Play Store. According to the European Commission's findings, Google was abusing its search engine by placing its own shopping, hotel, transportation and sports services at the top of search results compared to third-party services. In addition, according to the Digital Market Act, developers offering apps on the Play Store should have full freedom to communicate freely with their customers and offer cheaper alternatives outside the Play Store, but Google imposed contractual restrictions on app developers to prevent customers from switching to other platforms, which can be said to be a direct violation of the Act.

Plastic currency notes will come in India from 2027

Indian currency may change. Presently the currency notes are made of paper, it will be discontinued in the near future, but plastic notes can be seen in India in no time. RBI is preparing to start pilot projects of polymer bank notes in the country in due course. For which RBI has issued a global tender for Policemar. RBI believes that if the initial trials are successful, then these new notes can be launched in the market in a phased manner from the year 2027. However, this will not stop existing paper notes. Both types of currency will be moving side by side for some time. Initially, RBI approved this project at Rs. 10 and 20 currency notes will be trialled on a limited scale. RBI then aims to understand how effective these notes are in Indian weather, consumption and market conditions. Polymer notes are made from a special type of strong plastic-like material, making them more durable than regular paper notes. Notes can tear mostly due to pocketing or frequent use. In addition, modern security features are easy to add to Polymer Notes. Due to this, it becomes more difficult than before to prepare fake notes. In such a scenario, the advent of polymer notes can also curb counterfeit currency to a great extent. It may be mentioned here that in order to further the process of preparing polymer notes, RBI's Note Printing Unit has sought applications from companies across the world for availability of special polymer sheets. New notes will be printed on these sheets. Polymer notes have been around for many years in many countries such as Australia, Canada, the UK and New Zealand. The experience of these countries shows that notes last longer and do not deteriorate quickly.

Each assembly seat will have 1.75 lakh voters

Delimitation Commission has been formed to change the political geography of the country, through which the Lok Sabha and Assembly seats of the country are demarcated, in which a population of 10 lakh is constituted as Lok Sabha and a population of 1.75 lakh is constituted as Assembly. Earlier, there was a huge discrepancy in the number of voters in different Lok Sabha-Assembly seats, such as one assembly seat having about 1 lakh voters and another seat having more than 3 lakh voters, which An independent Delimitation Commission was formed to balance. Delimitation is the process of determining the boundaries of constituencies comprising a legislative body in a country or state. This process determines how many members the legislature should have, so that the public can benefit. Census report is required for delimitation. Govt claims slight drop in mileage with e20 fuel, but benefits are more

India's transition to E20 fuel is the result of long planning, policy preparation, discussions with industry and scientific testing that began in 2001. The route from E10 to E20 went ahead after the roadmap announced in 2021 and inter-ministerial committee discussions. However, the Ministry of Petroleum admitted that some vehicles could experience a mileage reduction of up to 3-5 percent with E20 fuel. But he stressed that the debate should not be limited to mileage alone. Before the government implemented E-20, there were several rounds of discussions with vehicle manufacturers, component suppliers, testing agencies, research institutes and technical experts. The ministry made it clear that if the manufacturers were not satisfied, they would not endorse the fuel or validate the vehicle's warranty. Almost every manufacturer today recognizes the warranty for E20, because they have been part of the process. All aspects like engine calibration, material compatibility, fuel systems, durability, drivability, emissions and fuel efficiency were evaluated before implementing the e20. Key Benefits of E-20 • Higher Octane Rating: Improves fuel quality. • Anti-knock properties: Reduces engine knock. • Cleaner combustion: reduces smoke and pollution. • Smooth acceleration: The driving experience becomes smoother. • Reduced carbon emissions: Environmentally friendly.

Say, the number of mobile phones is more than the population in Gujarat

Telecom operators added 4.06 lakh new customers in May, taking the state's teledensity to cross 100 per cent for the first time in nearly five years, according to data released by TRAI recently. The total telecom subscriber base in Gujarat has reached 7.2 crore, making the teledensity above 100 percent for the first time since July 2021. The reasons for the increase in subscribers include the addition of new customers due to migrant workers, as well as operators expanding their networks, especially in rural areas, while requests for portability also contributed to the overall increase. Competition among operators is also a big factor for this. Company wise, Reliance Jio has been the largest telecom provider in the state with 3.33 crore customers, followed by Vodafone Idea with 1.98 crore, Bharti Airtel with 1.57 crore and BSNL with 32 lakh customers. A TRAI report revealed that the number of 5G fixed wireless subscribers in Gujarat increased from 6.75 lakh in April to 6.84 lakh in May.
